Why is Letchworth Village haunted?
Letchworth Village was established as a residential asylum for the developmentally disabled in Rockland County, NY.
Its doors opened in the early 1900’s Letchworth Village housed many patients, from new borns to elders. During the mid 1980’s the state did not properly fund the institution, children were not clothed, bathed or properly cared for. Many female nurses were raped by male co-workers. Today the institution is abandoned, there is a cemetery off of Callhallow in Theills, New York where many were buried.
Disembodied Voices, shadow figures of some believe to be deceased pateints and workers are believe to still roam the halls. Witnesses also tell accounts of a ghostly security guard that tries to get unwanted visitors and trespassers of the property.
