Is the movie the boy based on a true story

Annabelle the Haunted Doll

One of the questions we always get asked is whether or not new horror movies such as, “The Boy” are based on a true story or real events. The horror movie, “The Boy” is a new horror movie that features a haunted doll, when a new babysitter played by Lauren Cohan is asked to look after the haunted doll, the horror movie begins.

The Boy Haunted Doll

Thankfully the story behind the movie, “The Boy” is not based on any real events.  However, there are real haunted dolls that horror movies have been based on already, or should be.  One of the most haunted dolls known to exist is, Anabelle the Doll. Annabelle is a Raggedy Ann doll alleged by self-proclaimed demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren to be one of the most haunted dolls in the world and is believed to have caused paranormal activity, as well as caused one death.

Currently Annabelle the haunted doll resides in a glass box at The Warren’s Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. Annabelle the Dolls’ haunted story has served as the inspiration for the films Annabelle (2014) and The Conjuring (2013).

Another haunted doll that is reported to be one of the most haunted dolls in the world is Robert the Doll. The doll once owned by Key West painter Robert Otto is believed by some to be cursed as well haunted by a demon.  During the time that Robert Otto owned the doll, he believed the doll was alive and even built a room for the doll in his house for Robert.

Many people including Robert Otto believed that the doll would move on its own, and the doll would make strange sounds.  Even to this day, Robert the Doll does not seem to be a fan of photography, many people report that while they try to take photos of the doll, photos became distorted.
