Hey Jay or Tim

Just wondering if somewhere down the line you will be allowing avators to the forum...i notice we do not have that option now, would be kinda cool to see everyones choice of avator. Not sure if there is alot of work involved but just thot i would ask...thanks

some of our friends were wondering how to post an "avatar".. so i'll help out. find yourself a gif or jpeg.. and dress it up..or whatever. just be sure it doesn't go over the specifications..

"Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB." -- in your profile

so you put the avatar into a place like "photobucket" and use the "direct url".. copy it, go into your profile here in forums.. and on the bottom you'll see the "avatar" section. you plunk your "url" to where the avatar is in the space provided..and click "submit". if it doesn't show, something is wrong, and it shall state what is wrong on the top of your profile page.

be creative & have fun! just remember 6kb is all it allows. i struggled with that..
hope this was helpful!

to those who have photoshop and are having annoyances with the 6kb file size you can try using the save for web option (ctrl+alt+shift+s for pc. cmd in place of ctrl for mac I believe) and it should bring up the double screen where your original is on the left and the one that is being manipulated on the right. there should be options on the right side that let you choose between png, gif, jpeg. since it's an image you'd probably want jpeg and then you can choose different quality's (low, med, high) and the picture will get more pixelated as it gets lower, but it will also allow the file size to be smaller. Then after you find the lowest quality you can stand that still looks ok you can click save and it should drastically reduce your file size.

If this is confusing and you have photoshop go ahead and message me and I'll try to walk you through it more. If you don't have photoshop and would like this done feel free to message me and send me the image and I'll see what I can do for you.

To those who would like an avatar made for you but don't have a editing program or don't know how to use one, I'd be happy to make some for anyone. I also have my own hosting space if you don't want to use sites like photobucket or tinypic.
