tim i think you should charge money to see investigations , i heard yesturday you was out of work so it might be idea to make some money from viewers , over 2000 forum members so alot of viewers i think , and the $5 could be membership per month which is hardly nothing , if people cant aford it , hard luck because nothing is free in this world so why should this be free and you not make any money back at all ,
we all should support tim for what he does for us

I think a lot of people miss understood the conversation, I was telling noreen that I was looking for a new job, but I think a lot of people thought that I said I was out of job. My company had offered me a position in tucson but i decided to stay in ca, which means I will soon be out of a job.lol
I have been thinking a lot lately about charging a monthly service fee for the site. In the past with encouragement from the viewers I put up a donation button on the website, because I had thought that we would be able to keep the sight free to view. I really appreciate all the viewers that have made donations but the amount that has been raised to date a barely enough to cover one month of operating expenses. I view what I and the rest of the team does is a value to those who watch, and with any service there should be a fee. As to what that fee is I don't know.
We will be trying to have a fundraiser event for livescifi.tv at the Salley House. If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

i think the donations to livescifi is what works..problem is whenever they have a special night..seems that is when i need to use my money for personal things like the dang price of gas to get to work..but i promise to add a donation from my pay at end of this month to help out livescifi..

i know from months on this forums..alot said they would pay the 5.00 others said no way, so i can see why Tim has oppted to go with donations and special events... livescifi will never die

I think Tim wouldnt feel right charging us to help him investigate, you seem to forget the fact that we kind of are Tims unbiased set of eyes looking in from the outside. Which is a tremendous tool to have.

Sorry Val, I know that can't be easy on you. I watch mine too because he's only 39 and 2 years ago had a heartattack. So now I watch his food and don't allow him too much junk.
Thats one of the reason why I don't think a monthly charge will fly. Some people are on fixed incomes and some have families that can't afford paying a fee each month. I don't mind giving each month myself, what lil I can give, and I'm sure others feel the same way. I try to remind ppl to donate during the investigations to help out.
I know our team is trying a new approach to getting funds together. The flea market only spawned $150 so hoping my new idea will work plus its much easier.

While charging viewers would definitely help with the funds. My two cents in the matter (my own personal money issues aside, and as unbiased as one can be) are:

Pros of charging:
- Able to maintain equipment/site/etc easier, easier on gas to and from the investigations.

-Much less drama in the chats, due to the trolls and troublemakers not willing to pay the fee just to get their bullying kicks.

-With more money coming in it will be easier to bring the viewers new and improved equipment, shows, and locations.

- far more likely to get in serious investigators in the chats (not that most of the chatters aren't trying to help. More people will likely pay more attention to the investigations and give more investigation related feedback)

Cons of charging:
-It could hinder the reputation of the team with new members who may feel the charge is a sign of the team wanting to make personal money out of it.

-Much less new viewers due to an unwillingness to pay to see the investigations(even at 5 a month people don't like to pay for something unless they know more about the sincerity of the team. So many money cons out there effects the legit people as well)

-loss of current members. Due to either an unwillingness to pay or an inability to afford even that amount.

-in time could loose even members willing to pay early on in the charging process. Either due to not being able to afford it, or a weighing of if the shows are worth the charge (likely by viewers who are not long time members and friends with other viewers or investigators)

Whichever way Tim and the team chooses I'll have their backs. Might not be able to make it to the streams if things continue the direction their going, but my respect and love for the team would always remain. And there's always forums (these will remain free even if streams cost?)

This is a hard topic. I understand both sides of the coin. I would love to see the site grow and turn into something even better then it is...if thats possible. The skys the limit. But the reality is everything does cost money. And to see Tims site grow and evolve into what we all have dreamed it would be its going to take $$$. I totaly understand the other side of the coin.. I too am really slow at work cause of this stupid economy. And money is tight.
I dont think money is really the issue with people having a problem paying to watch the streams. I think it would be more the lack of say things like pay pall accounts ...or just the lack of not understanding how simple it is to donate money safely accross the net. I understand peoples concern about fraud and ID theift and things like that.
Like i said this is a tough topic. and i just hope Tim can keep streamming as long as he can.
The best thing we can do right now is all just give a little if possible.

I am all for a charge of some kind. Although I will not be able to pay anything. Yes that does mean that I would not be able to be here for the broadcast. I do understand that it takes a bit of money to run the site and thats why I am not at all offended but the thought of the site charging. Livescifi.tv will still be considered part of my family no matter what .I have been coming here for over a year between JTV and the site and sorry you cant get rid of me that easy.....lol

The only reason the shows on TV are free is that the commercials pay for them. I would not be offended if Livescifi.tv put adds on its site either to raise money. As long as the adds pertained to paranormal and ghost hunting and not any adult sites.

I believe i heard Tim say they did have a sponser and too look out for advertising, i feel the same way st..tho i can afford the monthly charge, as i love this site that much.. not sure if Tim said he secured the sponser but sounded like it, but maybe that is not enough to run the site, buy equipment, or for traveling to places of our request.. but more sponsers would be the way, if we get the one that may lead onto two..look at jtv now St

I just had a helpful idea. It could help solve some issues with charging vs not charging. Not sure how easily it could be implemented, but it could help both sides out.

How about instead of charging just to be able to view why not set aside 'premium' like benefits for people who can or are willing to pay.

I mean like have a part that can remain free such as the low bandwidth stream, main room chats and forums. But for people who can pay they can access the high bandwidth stream, an extra room of chats (like the serious room or a less cluttered room, but still have the option of the main room if they prefer it.) and access to the archives. this can probably be done by having these sections password protected. Each month the password can be changed and the paying members can be given the password.

This way people will still be able to access it, they can still bring in new members (because the members will be able to see what is going on before committing to paying for it) and people who cannot spare the money will not have to loose the chance to watch, but people who can pay will be able to have better benefits and the team can still bring in some extra money.

I agree that there should be a way of generating support for the investigations, this is very costly. It is also like your baby you love to do it and share your experiences. Along with a lot of people out there I have financial hardships, (hubby is bedridden and having spinal cord surgery at end of month).

I use this as a part of my training for our group. I think DD has a great idea of the " standard " and "premium" memberships.

Also if there is a Link for people who own websites we can use to promote the investigations on our websites I know I would be happy to do so.

Right now I promote on myspace and yearbook. (Website is still coming together.)
