Who (or what) is ZoZo?
In modern Ouija lore, ZoZo is the most infamous entity people claim to contact through a spirit board. Witnesses often describe the planchette suddenly becoming aggressive, moving in rapid figure-eight patterns, and repeatedly spelling Z-O-Z-O—sometimes appearing as Z-A-Z-A or even “MAMA.”
Some sources trace the name back as far as early 1800s demonology writings, but the legend exploded in the modern paranormal world through investigator Darren Evans, who says his own Ouija sessions triggered a long-running haunting connected to ZoZo.
(And yes—there are skeptics who argue ZoZo is largely a modern, internet-fueled phenomenon.)
