[#1054]

this is for the entire team.. 😁

through past experiences, i've seen people going out on night vigils and so forth in the most funkiest clothes.. such as plaid or bold patterns (that show crazy images on camera), sandals or open toe shoes in dirty areas, and more.

what i'd like to know:
--is there a certain set of clothes that you prefer to wear?
--can you give some suggestions to budding paranormal investigators of what they should consider when choosing their clothing for an investigation?

thank you!

I'm not part of this team, but when I was a member of another team, there were pretty clear tips on what they preferred us to wear.

1. No prints/patterns on our clothes. Solid colors were best - black better than white. Now, the tshirts we had did have a logo, but I don't think they should have. There was a picture captured by someone on our team that they swear up and down isn't a team member, but upon closer inspection, you can clearly see the team logo on the shirt.

2. Always wear sturdy shoes - tennis shoes or boots are best, especially when you're investigating outside. Nothing with a "clicky" sole that will make noise when you walk. I also tuck my shoestrings in the shoe so they don't flop around and "tick" against my shoe.

3. Nothing reflective that might glare or reflect light - some tennis shoes have "jogger" features that glow when light shines on them. Jewelry is also especially bad about catching light.

Again..I'm not part of our team, so I hope my answering this isn't out of line. 🙂

I read somewhere to wear black which I do. I have my JPR tee, black jeans and depending on the conditions I either wear Hiking boots or Sneakers. I don't wear any jewelery not even my wedding ring so it doesn't accidnetly click against the recorder. Wear my hair up in a pony tail usually so no loose hair falls into camera view. And LOTS of bugs spray but zip on perfumes.

I drink during the investigation...not liquor just crystal lite as my Fibro causes dry mouth. No eating tho..Unless its a long one I go on a semi empty tummy incase something/ someone tries to make me sick.

Flip flops are totally out with us.

An example of my fashion choices would be what I took for the Abaondoned Steel Factory investigation. I try to be prepared first for safety, then for comfort (weather), and have options. (I packed other clothes if needed in my kit). That night I wore sturdy leather high-tops, long combat shorts with lots of pockets, black t-shirt (everyday uniform for me), "MASH" style hat (to keep metal dust out of hair, and respirator (a good one rated for asbestos). I took long pants in case there was a safety issue. I also consider that in a location like that, the clothes may be toast afterward. (I did save the high-tops!)

If any of my clothes have a brand name, I tend to black it out with gaffers tape (unless any of you clothing manufacturers want to pay me and livescifi for endorsements!). I also wear some kind of belt to hold the still camera, flashlights, hand-held recorder, and timer (for cassette tapes).

I think the keys are: safety, comfort for weather, and to dress professionally for the location.

But that's just me.....

Hey, maybe we should have uniform livescifi coveralls?

so happy you are all answering this. it's fine Mel, i appreciate everyone's opinions. often people ask me what they should wear, so i wanted to hear all your opinions.. and it certainly helps when i pack my bags! 😉

i like the idea of the belt, Darryl.. as i often have trouble with my notebook, flashlight, camera and more. mmm.. perhaps i'll find a belt i can hook these things onto? or at least pants with plenty of pockets.

name brands? oh dear.. i don't think i own anything with a name that anyone recognizes.. 😆 hahaha! cute idea to blank them out with tape.

thanks everyone! keep the suggestions coming! i truly appreciate all your views on this. 😁

I use a fanny pack that has a water bottle spot. Was gonna get a vest but the idea of having my top half weighted down with equipment didn't thrill me. But who knows down the road I may because I'm not real impressed with this fanny pack.

Good to know what people are wearing out there...I'm not going to answer this due to the fact that it would show my vanity... 😁 I will say that my shoes are usually sneakers or hiking boots, I hate shoes that make noise...Vans are a must for me because they are quiet, they look cool and I can take them on and off very easily...

Well, for me... ya'll know I love my camos! I think it's because they are cargo pants, so I can put all my equipment... i.e. digital voice recorder, camera, EMF meter, flashlight, etc ...into those big pockets, so I can have my hands free for other things. I'll often wear my livescifi.tv t-shirt, but if the investigation is at a bad-laundry-rotation-time, I won't subject my fellow investigators to a thrice-worn shirt 😆 Usually, I wear dark colors... layers when it's cold (long-johns in Colorado!) And yeah, the old German military jacket that WhiteOni loves so much! If I happen to be at Q&A or ITC Experiment-night, then I often just wear what I wore to work that day, because I usually drive straight down from work.
