Formerly known as the Weston State Hospital, this West Virginia facility served as a sanctuary for the mentally ill in the mid-1800’s. The history of the building holds fascinating stories of Civil War tales, a gold robbery, the "curative" effects of
architecture, and the efforts of determined individuals to help better the lives of the mentally ill.

Not a Professional Ghost Hunter? It’s your lucky day. The following Saturday, we are inviting you to spend the night. Bring your cameras, audio equipment, EMF detectors and your security blanket. Check in time is 9:00 p.m. You’ll be released at 5:00 a.m. Spend that time with our guides or wander the Asylum alone hunting your proof of the supernatural. Tickets will be $300.00 for this Event, For Mothman Event $70.00, For Both Events Tickets will be $370.00 These WILL sell out fast! Buy them now!

The Asylum has had apparition sightings, unexplainable voices and sounds, and other paranormal activity reported in the past by guests and staff. Step back in time and see how the mentally insane lived, and died, within these walls.

Thousands have been committed to the asylum over the years, and hundreds unfortunately died here. Decide for yourself if they’re still occupying the historic wards and treatment rooms.

So in the spirit of livescifi.tv and events we have decided to do another Asylum, this time one that has been a looney house since the 1800's. The event will be held on 9/27 and will consist of 8 hours (9pm to 5am) of investigation at this historic building, which is an amazing 9 acres in size! If anyone is interested in joining us at the historic location, please let me know.

History info:

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, constructed between 1858 and 1881, is the largest hand-cut stone masonry building in North America, and is purportedly the second largest in the world, next to the Kremlin. It was designed by the renowned architect Richard Andrews following the Kirkbride plan, which called for long rambling wings arranged in a staggered formation, assuring that each of the connecting structures received an abundance of therapeutic sunlight and fresh air. The original hospital, designed to house 250 souls, was open to patients in 1864 and reached its peak in the 1950's with 2,400 patients in overcrowded and generally poor conditions. Changes in the treatment of mental illness and the physical deterioration of the facility forced its closure in 1994 inflicting a devastating effect on the local economy, from which it has yet to recover.

Hey Tim...just checked into a few things..want to know if the airports are right and for me i would be there on the Friday so i need one night hotel..before the investigation and nightings with livescifi begin

Since im coming from the Toronto Airport this is what i have so far

Delta flight that leaves 6:20am and arrives 10:11am..to aiport in West Virginia called the Charleston Aiport..is that close to the investigation ???
Also the hotel i found is called the Comfort Inn in Weston WV on 2906 Airport Road...that would be one night until others arrive..unless some are there already..cost for room approx in us funds 79.00 with heated swimming pools and breakfast..etc..

is this hotel close? for investigation
next when we are at Pt Pleasant WV this is were there seems to be a problem..i cannot find an airport in or around Pt. Pleasant..to get back to Toronto..does this mean we scoot back to Charleston airport for departures or is there another aiport somewhere near Pt Pleasant i did not see??

and i believe you mentioned the cost of 370 includes the two nights lodging during the 27-29 which the 29 would be the day i depart..i so cannot find an airport near second investigation site..lol anyone??? and also going from the first investigation to the second...how are we getting there??? will there be rides??

im still going to call my friend to see if he can get me down there thru a drive or fly me down ( an old family friend of my fathers) and get me to were i want to be..but also checking on alternatives..or if he flies me i need to give him the details lol..

i'm that darn excited about this....when is the cut off date to get the $$ 370.00 to livescifi?? not sure i read that...i have 1 1/2 months to have the 370.00 sent to you first..and the other arrangements i can $$ wise (flight) on my own....

oh and for the 370.00 lol are we guaranteed one night of livescifi's full partying attention....that would be awesome...(also i have some gifts i was gonna send to Les i have..but may just bring them down with me..) still deciding...and yes i have combat clothes lol

Trainith! It would be great to have you out! We decided to book all of the teams accomidations this time at the same hotel as our guests so can spend more time together and parrrrty! The $370 includes two nights of lodging and the two investigations, I know its not cheap but I hope that you can make it!
The trip is first come first serve and we have already sold tickets and our capacity is 40. If anyone has any questions let me know!

😮 i have to come lol..do you take a payment plan or body parts to save me a spot lol lol..ima getting nervous..as i start work on aug 25... let me see what i can come up with..oh wait i will work at labor ready for next few weeks..that is daily cash money..of up to 80.00 a day..i just have to get steel toes tomorrow...i can either save it up and hope..or just keep sending you the money daily 🙂 hmm..whatever it takes tim i want to be there 🙁

I stuck it in my jeans pocket. I got to thinking what if something happened to me and I was in a wreck or something and someone found that note with "TRANS-ALLEGHENY ASYLUM" written on it LOL. They probably would think I was an escapee from the crazy house LOL. To me ...I bet this place is more active that Waverly ever thought about being. There were horrid things done to the mentally challenged people back then because we did not understand what was really wrong.

Hey Tim, I would def love to get together with you all that is for sure. Got to talk Hubby in to it first because he will be the one coming with me. My partner in crime Anita( team member and Sis In Law) usually would come with me on trips like this but she is prego with twins. By that time they will about be ready to make their entrance into the world. I need to check mapquest...think I am only about 7 hrs away from this one. If I had to come by myself I would be ok doing so.

Is it ok if I post a notice on my web site about your planned investigations? I know a lot of people in my area who would be interested in this sort of thing.

I was so going to try to make this with y'all Tim! I'm was planning a trip to see my brother in Tennessee and a friend of mine that lives in Waterford, VA during the week of the 21st thru the 28th but, those plans as of yesterday, have been put on hold for a while!! I'll be right here watching y'all and drowning my sorrows with......I haven't decided yet!!, 😆 cause I couldn't be there with y'all. Y'all aren't planning a trip back to the East Coast in March are y'all? That's when the plans have been changed to. 😆

tim... they fold and put it away.. do dishes ...mop... vaccuum.. dust.. they do it all man... even leave you alone so you can watch sports...i have them trained well!
