hallo everyone ![]()
i know many of you have been asking, and i thought i'd post this in "general" for all to see.
i shall make this as simple as can be. those of you whom use other systems, please add your directions as well!
1-- on your keyboard you have a key called "PrtScn/SysRq". that is the one you want to keep a finger on. (it captures the entire page of the site you see infront of you.)
2-- now get another program up. ie: MS Paint, Photo Shop, Animation Shop, or even Word (Paint and Word may distort the colour somewhat when trying to download, but they work!)
3-- when you see something you want to capture, press the button i mentioned in #1
4-- then pull up your other program and "paste" or hit "Ctrl" & "V" (hold "Ctrl" down when you hit "V"). this loads the whole page into the program.
5-- then minimize your capture and continue to watch the stream for more opportunities. (in MS Paint, you have to "save as" and then open "new" for the next capture--see #8 & #9)
6-- once you are done with all your Caps, maximize your other program and bring up each screen print to "edit" (cut, resize etc).
7-- in MS Paint, you do not have the "cut" feature. so skip to step #8. in Word you can cut down and resize somewhat. in Photo Shop and Animation Shop you can do both without a problem. i suggest you cut out all that isn't necessary, so that you are focused only on the cam you wanted to capture in the first place.
8-- bring up your photo albums. make a folder to hold your Screen Caps in. ie: Livescifi.tv (with mini folders for the dates or one for ITC and one for each Investigation..or whatever you chose)
9-- "Save As" your Screen Cap, and give it a name. perhaps the date and/or time (this helps with investigation caps).
10-- when you have them all in your folder, you are now ready to load them into a free photo site. (ie: photobucket, flickr etc).
11-- load them into the photo site. label them with whatever helps you to identify what it is. (ie: i like to use date, time stamp etc)
12-- for those using MS Paint and/or any other program that doesn't allow you to edit, photobucket allows you to edit your Capture (it has a cut, resize, and more features under "edit").
13-- now you are ready to upload it into the forums. simply use the "IMG" code the site provides. copy and paste it into your post. remember, to give each photo a new line (hit "enter" after each image code), so that you do not cause the post to spread out sideways.. thus causing everyone to scroll way over ---> just to see it. ![]()
does that help everyone?
if you use a different system, please post your directions.
important note: what i do recommend, take note of the timestamp of the capture, so that you can put it onto whatever you get! it will help the team know when you caught this for their reviews of the tapes/dvrs etc.
note: i know there are other keys in combination one can press to capture only what you want (in other words, an editted version of the site page), however, this requires more effort and memorization of a combination of keys (at least for me!). hahaha! i wanted to keep this simple. i welcome anyone who is versed in what the other keys are, to please share them with us.
any questions, please ask! several members are well versed with this tool. we'd love to help out.
Wow, Spook...you're the best. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into helping all of us. I'm definitely going to try to do the screen caps now, not such a mystery anymore!! haha
