Out here in the Great Basin, some places aren’t just remote—they’re powerful. In Paiute tradition, there’s a concept called puha, spiritual power that can live in the land itself. Certain mountains, canyons, and water sources are treated with deep respect, because the energy in those places can be intense—and sometimes dangerous.
There are also old stories of spirit beings connected to water—like the Water Babies, said to haunt springs and lakes and lure people in at night.
And today, people still report something they can’t explain: a tall, dark figure moving between the trees and the rocks—silent, watching, never fully seen head-on.
Tonight, Tim Wood and Lillian Alquist are back in this basin to find out if the land is simply alive with history… or if something here is still watching.”
