Inside this investigation
John Zaffis, Dave and I use a ghost box and other devices while examining stories about objects and spaces within the house. A later part of the episode focuses on slowed playback from my laptop, including the phrase interpreted as “I'm power.” The earlier search beneath the stairs is a different part of the investigation. The chapter controls let you move between the physical search and the audio review, comparing what each actually establishes and what remains an interpretation.
For your own review, listen once without trying to hear a particular word. Then compare the suggested interpretation with the surrounding audio and the question being asked. A repeated playback can help locate a sound, but it can also make an ambiguous fragment feel more familiar. The original description below preserves the investigation notes rather than replacing them with a verdict. In this episode's discussion, give the exact time, describe what you hear and explain any ordinary source you think should be considered. You can also compare the neighboring recordings through the episode navigation.

DID THE GHOST BOX REALLY SAY “I'M POWER” INSIDE THE HAUNTED WELLES HOUSE? In Episode 49, we slow down eerie radio-scan recordings, question sounds that seem to mention a bishop and hidden bones, and explore an unusual space beneath the stairs. What were we actually hearing? I'm Tim Wood, founder of LiveSciFi. Join me, paranormal investigator John Zaffis of Haunted Collector, and Dave Spinks as we return to the reportedly haunted Welles House at 46 South Welles Street in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania (also searched as 46 Welles Street). After spending an extended period investigating the property and purchasing it, I wanted to keep digging into the stories and our unexplained experiences. In this original investigation we use a ghost box, an Ovilus word generator, EVP recording equipment and REM-Pods. We search beneath the stairs and inspect closets, carpeting and floorboards while reviewing accounts of objects reportedly hidden in the house. Later, I replay ghost-box audio on my laptop at different speeds. Some of the apparent words are disturbing—but are they voices, radio fragments or the result of how we're listening? 👻 EPISODE 49 — YOUTUBE CHAPTERS

2:20:10 Reviewing strange names and responses
2:29:35 Possible reference to “power”

2:35:33 Slowed-down playback: “I'm power”?
2:38:14 Apparent “devil's hiding” phrase 🎧 DID IT SAY “I'M POWER”? At 2:35:33–2:35:35, a viewer reports hearing what sounds like “I'm power” as I slow and replay the recording on my laptop. That phrase is the moment I want you to investigate most closely. Play it at normal speed first, then compare the slower version. Slowing radio-scan audio can make fragments sound more wordlike, even when the original sound is unclear. Earlier, at 2:29:35, a viewer hears a possible reference to “power.” At 2:31:32, another fragment is interpreted as “demon,” and at 2:38:14 we discuss audio that seems to say “devil's hiding.” None of these interpretations verifies a supernatural speaker, a particular entity or a message from the house. 🔎 WHAT WAS HIDDEN BENEATH THE STAIRS? Around 1:05:00, we search the closets and spaces beneath the stairway, inspecting carpet and floorboards after unusual word-generator readouts. We also revisit reports involving bones and objects supposedly hidden within the property. These historical claims were leads we wanted to examine, not established evidence of witchcraft, a crime or a demonic presence. The footage does not confirm the origin of any alleged bones or hidden objects. 👻 THE NAMES AND RESPONSES WE HEARD At 2:22, a viewer identifies a threatening phrase that sounds like “I want you dead.” Between 16:08 and 16:54, viewers report possible words including “David,” “Wiccan,” “James” and “get out.” At 18:20, one listener hears “Beezel,” a name discussed in earlier sessions. At 20:32, after I ask who brought bones into the house, a viewer hears “Wiccan” twice; near 23:08, someone hears “John.” These are interpretations of rapidly scanning radio audio. A matching word may be a coincidence, a broadcast fragment, interference or a listener's perception. Try listening BEFORE reading the suggested phrase, and tell us whether the recording sounds different to you. JOHN ZAFFIS AND THE WELLES HOUSE INVESTIGATION John shares his perspective on the property's unsettling reputation while Dave and I investigate its rooms, equipment responses and historical stories. We discuss claims involving a religious figure and alleged hidden objects, but do not establish that a bishop, a ritual or any supernatural force caused the reported events. 📍 ABOUT THE WELLES HOUSE The Welles House is a reportedly haunted property in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
