Inside this investigation
This concluding interview brings together John Zaffis, Dave, host Norene, Linda Potter and me to discuss the investigation. John explains parts of his background and beliefs before assessing the Welles House visit. The chapters distinguish those broader discussions from the specific reflections on our time at the property. These are retrospective accounts, not a new ghost hunt inside the house. Use the archive's earlier recordings to compare a recalled experience with the original sequence whenever that footage is available.
As you watch, keep track of who is speaking and whether they are recalling an event, interpreting a recording or answering a broader question. Those differences are useful when comparing this account with an earlier investigation. The original description remains available below, and the episode navigation provides a route back through the series. If you contribute to this discussion, identify the time of the statement and describe which original recording you believe it concerns. That helps us examine the account carefully while preserving the personal perspective that makes these interviews part of the archive.

JOHN ZAFFIS CALLED THE WELLES HOUSE ONE OF THE MOST INTENSE HAUNTING INVESTIGATIONS HE HAD EXPERIENCED. After joining Dave Spinks and me for 48 hours inside this reportedly haunted Pennsylvania house, the Haunted Collector investigator had serious concerns about what we were encountering. What happened during those two days—and why did he want us to be careful? I'm Tim Wood, founder of LiveSciFi. In Episode 51 of A House Worse Than Amityville, I join host Norene, guest co-host Linda Potter, paranormal investigator Dave Spinks, and demonologist John Zaffis to discuss our 48-hour Welles House investigation in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. THIS EPISODE IS AN INTERVIEW AND INVESTIGATION RECAP—not a live ghost hunt inside the property. We discuss ghost-box sessions, unexplained noises, equipment readings, personal experiences, and the questions we were still trying to answer after investigating the Welles House at 46 South Welles Street. 46:12 Tim, Dave and John reflect on their investigation WHAT DID JOHN ZAFFIS EXPERIENCE AT THE WELLES HOUSE? John describes walking into a house that felt unusually heavy to him and experiencing what he regarded as an extraordinary amount of activity across 48 hours. He talks about ghost-box and Ovilus sessions that seemed to produce personally meaningful information, and why he sometimes asked us to turn the equipment off. Those responses were our interpretations of electronic outputs—not independent confirmation of an intelligent or supernatural source. DAVE SPINKS DESCRIBES A FRIGHTENING PHYSICAL EXPERIENCE Dave recalls working in an upstairs room we called the Hell Room when he suddenly felt something strike his throat and began coughing. He also describes REM-Pod and meter activations and how exhausted he felt after the investigation. John discusses why he was concerned about our well-being. These are firsthand accounts of what the team perceived, not established causes of the incidents. DID SOMETHING FOLLOW THE INVESTIGATORS HOME? John recounts an unsettling incident in his car after leaving Pennsylvania. I also discuss unusual reports from a family member and why some of our personal experiences continued to trouble me after leaving the property. We did not establish that anything paranormal caused these events or that anything followed us home. THE HISTORY, THE WARRENS AND THE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS John talks about his work with Ed and Lorraine Warren, as well as investigations associated with The Conjuring and The Haunting in Connecticut. We also discuss the Welles House's reported history, old newspaper accounts and a story involving objects and bones allegedly found hidden at the property. Such claims require documentary or physical verification; the conversation does not prove a ritual, a crime, a possession or a demonic haunting. WHY WE KEPT INVESTIGATING I purchased the Welles House because I wanted to research its history and document what we experienced. The more we investigated, the more questions emerged. John emphasizes careful evaluation rather than jumping to conclusions, and Dave and I explain why the investigation had become such a complicated undertaking.
