Inside this investigation

A letter sequence interpreted as “SLAY” is followed by a sound a viewer describes as a growl or grunt. Later, a coffin card becomes part of the discussion while I continue recorder and ghost-box questions. This entry is a chance to compare how the interpretation develops over the session. The card’s meaning and what the audio contains should be assessed independently of the board reading.

When reviewing the board, follow the letter order and spoken questions as well as the eventual phrase. A name or message in the notes records the interpretation made during the investigation. It does not independently identify a communicator. Comparing the movement with the suggested wording is part of reviewing the experiment.

For a sudden sound, compare the lead-up with the team’s response and any ordinary activity nearby. A noise may be easy to locate in a recording but difficult to identify. Describing its timing, character and possible source is more useful than assigning it an identity because of the question being asked.
